Due to Vidars huge UK following, todays updates will be in English. Sorry we can’t update minute for minute, but we will have team news prior to the match, a half-time report and full-time report as soon as the match is finished at 1745 PM (Norwegian time).

A very important game for both sides, as defeat will almost certainly increase any worries about possible relegation. EIK lost 4-1 to Åsane in Bergen last Saturday, while Vidar come to Egersund having lost their last three games. The game in Stavanger earlier this season was a hard fought encounter, where Vidar’s Geir Andre Herrem scored a late winner. And no one will be surprised if it is just as close today. Nice weather in Egersund. Close to 20° with patchy clouds. Swimming temperatures in the many lakes around Norway’s pottery town. EIK’s supporters club has announced a flag day inside the ground, and ask all fans to wear their colours to lift the atmosphere. We had just over 500 inside the turnstiles for our last homegame, and expect between 5-600 today.

Not sure if any British Vidar-fans will be present, but the atmosphere in Egersund is probably the closest they’ll get to what they are used to from home. In one of the few Norwegian grounds that has had to put in riot-police to stagger the tempers. (Albeit back in 1929, but to many people from outside Egersund we are still known as the Millwall of Norwegian football).

33 previous league meetings between these two clubs over the years. Vidar has won most with their 18 wins, while EIK has won ten times. Last season the game here in Egersund ended in a 1-1 draw, while Vidar were quite fortunate to snatch a 1-0 win on their ground. Vidar’s players will still have nightmares about the game here five years ago, when about every shot targeted towards their goal went in, and EIK won 8-1. Another game that springs to my mind was in 2006, when we got Marius Larsen sent off early on, Vidar had three goals disallowed, and we managed to win 1-0 thanks to a second half goal from Espen Skogen, who will play today. First match between EIK and Vidar I attended was back in 1980, when Vidar had brought together their talented squad of the 80s, and was on their way to promotion They easily beat us 3-0.

Time to pick up the dried laundry and head towards the ground. Two important games today. Let’s hope both Herrem and Benteke can be kept quiet! Should have worn my old Liverpool-shirt all day, but can’t due to coulour clash with Vidar. Only found it in the closet a few days ago after being absent for years!

Twenty minutes played: 1-1. A dull opening where Geier Andre Herrem was through after five minutes but shot wide. But he was on the mark just six minutes later when he explored a terrible loss of posession by EIK’s captain Kai Ove Stokkeland, who had to leave the pitch injured just after.
EIK equalised with a header after corner by Espen Skogen in the 19th minute.

Penalty to EIK. A hand ball by a Vidar-defender. Kenneth Grande shoots to the right of keeper Dyrdal: 2-1 to EIK.

Half-time in Egersund: 2-1 to EIK.
After a dreadful start to the game, EIK came back with two goals inside eight minutes. Vidar has dominated posession, but both teams have had their opportunities. Kalle Refvik has had two fine efforts saved by EIK-goalie Høidahl, while in the other end Dyrdal was kept busy by Grande and Håland, saving on both times.
The penalty situation was debated by the Vidar-players, but from the box where we sit it looked like a clear hand ball.

Full time: EIK – Vidar 3-1
A second half where Vidar had a lot of posession against a hometeam that sat back and defended their lead. But Vidar created very little, and a spirited EIK-team managed to seal their win when captain Jostein Salvesen scored deep into injury time.
A deserved win for EIK, who creep above Vidar in the table, and stand seventh after todays games.
